Janine Fuller is an interdisciplinary artist and designer specializing in nature photography, videography, ecoacoustic recording, and immersive installations. Her work weaves together ecological narratives to inspire care, reciprocity, and a deeper connection with the natural world.
Janine's recent installation at the UniSC Art Gallery transported visitors to K'gari (Fraser Island) through a multisensory blend of soundscapes, visuals, and scents, encouraging a sense of place and appreciation for nature. As an artist involved in ISEA 2024, she created large-scale outdoor projections and soundwalks that revealed the hidden stories of ecosystems, encouraging environmental stewardship through creative practices.
Janine is now working with Dr Leah Barclay as project assistant on Leahs work for the Experimenta project.

I am an interdisciplinary artist and designer deeply inspired by the intricate and often overlooked rhythms of the natural world.

My work is a blend of photography, ecoacoustic recordings, and sculpture, brought together through immersive soundwalks and large-scale outdoor projections. Through my art, I aim to create immersive experiences that invite viewers to engage with their surroundings in new and meaningful ways, encouraging an intimate and visceral connection with the environment. Capturing the subtle textures and nuances of landscapes, I strive to reveal the beauty and complexity of ecosystems that are frequently at risk or underappreciated.

In my creative process, I explore the intersection between visual and auditory elements, crafting pieces that not only portray the natural world but also allow audiences to hear and feel it. By integrating high-resolution photography with spatial audio and evocative installations, I draw on the dynamic qualities of natural spaces to communicate themes of conservation and ecological awareness. Each project becomes a multisensory journey, designed to inspire a sense of wonder and urgency in protecting our planet’s fragile ecosystems.

With a background that combines technical precision with artistic exploration, my practice is as much about discovery as it is about creation. Working with site-specific installations and using nature itself as both subject and setting, I aim to transform familiar places into spaces of contemplation and connection, where art meets ecology and imagination meets responsibility.
